The picture measures 16.5cm square and the frame measures 29cm square.

Colin Orchard was born in Surry in 1935. After leaving school in 1950 he started to work as a messenger for The Times Newspaper and then trained as a typographer and layout artist. The cartoons of of Ronald Searle and Andre Francois inspired him to develop his humorous drawings and he was invited to illustrate The Times House journal. He then produced humorous illustrations for advertisements and magazines articles including: WHsmith, Shell, ICI, Harper's Bazaar, Sony and The Spectator to name a few.
Colin moved to St Ives, Cornwall in 1983 with his wife Celia to develop and pursue his interest in oil painting. In 1993, the late Muriel Archer persuaded him to try for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition - all three pictures submitted were accepted and hung. He has since exhibited all over the UK.
