Frances Watt was born in Falkirk in 1923, she spent her early years growing up in Geneva then at 13 returned to Scotland until 1938 when her father died. Aged 15 she moved to highgate in London with her mother.
During the 1960’s she was commissioned by the council of the stock exchange to record the daily life of the ‘square mile’. This work was highly regarded and featured in the stock exchange journal and as a set of postcards. She exhibited with 5 other artists as one of 6 highgate artists.
In 1992 she returned to her native Scotland living with her mother in Perth.
