William Watson-West is a painter whose first-hand observations of landscape, flora and fauna are the basis of his work. He has exhibited at galleries across North Yorkshire and has previously been shortlisted for the prestigious New Light Art Prize.
Predominantly working in watercolour, pastel, ink, and, more recently, acrylic, William creates evocative semi-representational and abstract pieces. Inspired by the immediate surroundings in and around his Yorkshire farmhouse as well as various scenes from across The British Isles, there is a sense of emotion translated into his work with bold use of colour and texture.
Graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2011 with a BA in Printed Textiles, William is currently based from his North Yorkshire studio on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
